    #WindowsInsiders 0xc1900101 Issues - & a Solution (for my case)!

It looks like its time for a new Post, its been a while for me as I have been heads down testing - and a trip to Pilot the Millennium Falcon! Back to work, so when relevant issues surface - its time to talk! In following the Feedback Hub and Twitter, some of the burning issues for #windowsInsiders are encountering is the dreaded 0xc1900101- xxxxx This error is a fairly generic catchall for a number of significant errors that deal specifically with hardware. There is a great

There is a Buzz in the air for 19H2

Today marked a pretty good day with the release of the much anticipated 19H2 release. This release was pushed into the slow ring and was a really easy upgrade. Flip your build to the slow ring from the 18362.175 build and you get the 18362.1000 build, the first of the 19H2 releases. There is some good info as usual on the insider site about the build and how 19H2 will be released only via the slow ring and that with the initial .1000 build there were only minor updates for

Windows Insider Build Info Tool - Try it!

Well this week (Ending March 09, 2019) was a great time for #WindowsInsiders with a couple new builds on both the Fast and Skip rings. I was experiementing and with some Windows Forms and programing, since I am a Solution Architect and a 'rookie' scripter I thought it was time to expand my scope and do a little developing! Well here is my first published creation on GitHub! Its a tool to tell #WindowsInsiders all about the previous builds on their current machine, hand code

Updates on Azure AD Devices Renaming Processes

While I am still trying to shake the end of this cold snap we are seeing in Canada that has lasted all of February, I have been updating computers as with a busy build week! If you ever see the sun like this, you really need to be inside testing a #WindowsInsider build! In between builds I have been watching updates via the MS Technology Forums and the MS Answer Forums, both a great place to find new items and help solve existing issues. If you haven't been active on eithe

Testing Approach as a Windows Insider -Part 3

So I have been discussing my methodology on being a #WindowsInsider and how my approach to testing can have a real effect on the way that you go through each build and how you review each new item to be tested. Previously in Part1 and Part2 I talked about whether you are casual or serious, rings and Bare metal or upgrading - In Part 3 I am going to talk about x86, x64, and Arm (via Raspberry PI) testing. This week in testing we had to have the "Build Patrol" come out and sav

Making your #WindowsInsider run better & secure - with Raspberry PI!

Well now that I proved that you can actually run a Raspberry PI with #WindowsInsider 18334.1 While waiting for a new insider build, I am going to tell you how I tweaked it to make it a little bit more useable. One of the things that is important to understand is that Windows 10 Pro was not really meant to run on this little device. That being said, the Windows Build team via @DonaSarkar has sure made some leaps and bounds in efficient memory management with the new #WindowsI

    Behold - Raspberry PI #WindowsInsider Build 18334

Well after the post on TomsHardware about running Windows 10 on a Raspberry PI I thought I would take this to the next level and put a #WindowsInsider build on my Pi that was running IOT Core! I followed the instructions from Toms webpage and downloaded the Raspberry PI installer, generated a 18334.1 ISO, extracted the install.wim, downloaded the core package and proceeded to build myself a new Raspberry boot drive. This proved to be a challenge! Most of the machines I was u

Have you properly renamed your Azure AD Computer - Root cause CAA5004B

I have been investigating the root problem to error CAA5004B - coming out of the Feedback Hub and I think I can better explain the issue and offer up a clear sky solution to the issue! As with every solution there is always a few things that cloud the issues. In this case the error CAA5004B and other errors like not being able to login to your computer with your Azure AD account after an upgrade of your #WindowsInsider build is directly related to the fact that during the up

Testing Approach as a Windows Insider -Part 2

So its time to fire-up the second part of my blog on developing a Testing approach to being a Windows Insider. Part one found Here talks about being a Casual tester or hardcore as well as being on the fast or slow rings. Part 2 is specifically going to address - Bare metal or Upgrade testing or both Bare metal testing is when you start your Machine or VM from a formatted disk - nothing is on the machine at all - The image is usually laid down from an ISO or built up from a r

    The Classic Editor - Notepad.exe

I have come to enjoy an old friend in Notepad, using it from the early windows 3.0 days - its always just worked - small or large files and when it didnt, it was always upgraded without even knowing and it always seemed to meet my needs. When testing for the #WindowsInsiders I ran into small error with notepad creating new files - https://twitter.com/murmanz/status/1070691664497324033 and sure enough they identified it as an issue and in 18298 they quickly fixed it up, thanks
